{"id":118,"date":"2012-11-14T18:05:42","date_gmt":"2012-11-14T09:05:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wakamatsuri.com\/wordpress\/?p=118"},"modified":"2019-03-15T16:44:02","modified_gmt":"2019-03-15T07:44:02","slug":"governor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/wakamatsuri.com\/en\/about\/governor.html","title":{"rendered":"A Message from the Governor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-80\" title=\"\u77e5\u4e8b\u304b\u3089\u306e\u6328\u62f6\" src=\"http:\/\/wakamatsuri.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/governor_main.jpg\" alt=\"\u77e5\u4e8b\u304b\u3089\u306e\u6328\u62f6\" width=\"250\" height=\"320\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen the tide fills the Wakanoura Bay, you can see the reeds moving and hear the cranes calling\u201d Wakanorua, famous for its setting in Yamabe no Akahito\u2019s poetry in the Man\u2019yoshu (Japan&#8217;s oldest anthology of poems), is a place of picturesque scenery where many people have visited from long ago and is now registered as a location of scenic beauty designated by the national government.<br \/>\n\u3000Wakamatsuri is the most important festival of the Kishu Toshogu Shrine which was established in Wakanoura by the first lord of the Kishu Tokugawa clan (one of the three major families of Tokugawa), Tokugawa Yorinobu to enshrine his father, Tokugawa Ieyasu. This magnificent festival was known as one of Japan\u2019s great festivals, and has attracted visitors from all over the world .<\/p>\n<p>\u3000Wakamatsuri which began in 1621, a year after the Kishu Toshogu was established, has been passed on for nearly 400 years \u2013 even while experiencing interruptions caused by wars, etc. &#8211; maintaining its organization of its ancient celebration.
