A famous garden built by a major daimyo from the Kishu Tokugawa family

This is a daimyo garden build by Tokugawa Harutomi. It was designated as a scenic spot in 1989 by the national government. Within the garden, there are “Shioiri-no-ike” (a pond sea water runs into), “Yosuien” (rest house built in the sukiyazukuri style), “Jissaian” (teahouse), and “Hidari naname nobori goroka” (hallway inclined obliquely toward upper left) as well as “Minato goten” a palace relocated for the Tokugawa family.
